Ethnic Groups
The Greater Accra Region is made up of two major ethnic groups, namely, the Gas to the South-west and Dangmes to the East and North East. The Region however, is very cosmopolitan due to the influx of huge populations from other parts of the country as well as people from outside the country.
Though this phenomenon may be attributed to the attractive nature of Accra and Tema as destinations for job-seekers, it is nevertheless correct to attribute it also to the kind and accommodating nature of the Region’s indigenes.
The non-indigene Ethnic groups in the Region have their respective Associations and freely practice their traditions, customs and culture especially during Marriage Ceremonies, Children naming and Funerals.
