The District lies in the Coastal Savannah agro-ecological zone with a generally undulating Relief and a bi-modal Rainfall pattern which together with Densu River, predisposes the District to agricultural development.

However, the bulk of it’s over half a million population is concentrated along its boundary with the Accra Metropolitan Area.  the District therefore experiences an interesting dichotomy of enforced urbanization and a serene rural set-up.

It has a coastline of 10 kilometers, but fishing is artisan.  The vegetation and soil types in the rest of the District greatly enhance large-scale commercial farming of both traditional crops like Maize and Cassava and NON-Traditional export crops like pineapple, pawpaw and pepper. 

The District’s Investment Potentials include Tourism due to its white sandy beaches along Bortianor and Kokorbite.  Quite close by, it is the Ramsar “Wetlands” Site comprising the Densu River and the Panbros Saltpans. The District has embarked on a Tourism Development Project on the lines of National Integrated Tourism Development Programme.
