The Accra Metropolitan Area is a very small land area with a large population of 1.6 million persons.  Its coastline stretches from Gbegbeyese near Dansoman, to Nungua and its northern boundary is just beyond New Achimota.

It is sub-divided into thirteen (13) Sub-metro Councils entrusted with limited authority.  Within the borders of AMA is a virtual beehive of industrial and commercial activities and pockets of institutions of higher leaning.  The area also boasts of the Methodist University, Central University College and the University of Ghana, Legon.

There are also major tourist attractions, First Class Hotels and sports facilities including Golf and Tennis.
