Industrial Development

The Region is the industrial hub of Ghana though most of the industrial establishments depend heavily on imported raw materials.  There is however potential for developing local inputs.  Most of the industries are Manufacturing ones located in Accra and Tema and are engaged in imports-substitution industrialization in areas like Textiles, Food & Beverages, Aluminium Products and Construction inputs.

There are a few extractive industries of note such as the stone quarries at Shai Hills, Weija and Mallam and the numerous Salt Works, notably those at Ada and Mendskrom.
